As the excitement builds towards the Le Mans race start on Saturday (June 11), Honda is showing off its 203hp CR-Z Racer on the track. Built by Honda Performance Development, the Racer is putting in demonstration laps for the Le Mans crowds.
The CR-Z Racer has already taken part in an endurance event in the USA at the Thunderhill 25 Hours near San Francisco. It is also used as the pace car for the Speed EuroSeries.
Based on the CR-Z hybrid road car, the Racer has the same 1.5-litre petrol engine and electric motor and battery pack. Power has been increased to 203hp, but Honda has not released any performance figures for the car.
Honda Performance Development says the car has been made to be tested under real racing conditions to help Honda discover technical solutions specific to hybrid-powered cars.
