If you fancy a more special, more potent version of the Ferrari 812 Superfast, good news: there's such a thing on the way. This beast is due to be given its world premiere on May 5.
830hp, 9,500rpm
It doesn't officially have a name yet, but this is known as a 'limited-edition Ferrari V12' in the bumf. That's because the 65-degree, 6.5-litre V12 used in the Superfast has been extended out from 800hp in the, um, standard car, to a colossal 830hp here. Not only that, but the engine revs to 9,500rpm, the highest point of any Ferrari internal-combustion engine sanctioned for road use. Such a power increase on what was already a pretty highly strung V12 has been achieved by a redesign of the engine's key components, including a new valve-timing mechanism and a fresh exhaust set-up.
Other additions include four-wheel steering, while the weight has been trimmed compared to the 812 Superfast through the 'extensive use' of carbon fibre, both inside and out on the vehicle. This limited-edition V12 will also debut the latest version 7.0 of the company's Side Slip Control vehicle dynamics system.
Beyond that, you can't fail to have noticed the aero. New profiles are adopted to the front air intakes, rear diffuser and the configuration of the exhaust, while the glass rear screen of the 812 Superfast has been replaced by a single-piece aluminium panel complete with vortex generators. Not only that, but there's a carbon-fibre blade running width-ways on the bonnet, which alters the visual volumes of the Ferrari, while the rear spoiler is higher than that on the 812.
While the main dash and most of the fittings familiar to the cabin of the 812, there's a redesigned door panel to reduce the car's overall weight, while there's a H-gate theme to the centre tunnel which helps reinforce this new Ferrari's sportier, racing spirit.
