Land Rover has announced a number of updates to the Range Rover Velar, including the limited-run Auric Edition based on the R-Dynamic S.
There's a suite of technology upgrades across the range, such as an enhanced cabin air purification system that introduces fresh external air when sensors detect CO2 levels that fall outside acceptable levels.
Purify Cycle, another new feature, allows users to schedule an air-cleaning cycle inside the vehicle using a remote app, giving drivers the chance to ensure the cabin air is not stale before setting off on a journey.
Existing driver assistance features are now augmented by adaptive cruise control with steering assist (standard on HSE models and available as part of the Driver Assist Pack) and a rear camera.
Ready to go in seconds
The integrated digital screens come fitted with Land Rover's Pivi and Pivi Pro infotainment systems. With a new electrical architecture, Land Rover claims the screens and the navigation system are 'ready to go in seconds'.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are intended to be released as part of a wireless software update on all Range Rover Velar models later this year, meanwhile.
Moving outside, fourteen paint colour options are available from Land Rover's 'SV Bespoke Premium Palette' or 'Match to Sample' service, with some hues such as Tourmaline Brown coming in satin matte and 'ultra-metallic' finishes. Other Premium Palette colours include Amethyst-Grey Purple and Petrolix Blue.
Exclusive exterior trim finishes
The Auric Edition derives its name from the Latin 'Aurum', meaning gold. It comes with exclusive exterior trim finishes on the grille, badges, bonnet, door and wing vents.
Charente Grey paint is reserved exclusively for the Auric Edition, with Ostuni Pearl White and Santorini Black also available, while 20-inch alloy wheels and privacy glass complete the exterior enhancements. A contrast roof and 22-inch Pincer wheels are options.
The Range Rover Velar Auric Edition, like others in the range, is available with four- and six-cylinder engines, including the P400e plug-in hybrid system that goes an official 53km on all-electric power, offers fuel consumption of to 2.2 litres/100km and emits just 49g/km of CO2.
'Enhanced dimension of modernity'
"With beautifully balanced and optimised proportions, the Range Rover Velar brings an enhanced dimension of modernity to the Range Rover family which radically interprets the brand's DNA. Elegant simplicity is delivered through a visually reductive approach," said Professor Gerry McGovern OBE, chief creative officer, Jaguar Land Rover.
The Range Rover Velar is priced from €67,190 in Ireland.
