New Aussie supercar

The Joss Developments JP1 has some serious machinery in its sights.

The Joss Developments JP1 is making its debut at the Melbourne motor show and the company says it has a 340km/h top speed. It will also cover 0-100km/h in less than three seconds to put it alongside the fastest cars in the world.

An aluminium V8 engine is mid-mounted in the JP1, though Joss has yet to confirm the motor's capacity. It will produce at least 500hp and drive through a six-speed manual gearbox.

The chassis of the JP1 is made from carbon fibre, as is the body, which helps keep the total weight down to 940kg. Wheels are 18-inch alloys.

Designed by Matt Thomas, who has worked for Aston Martin and BMW, Joss Developments intends to sell 25 JP1s per year with a price tag of more than €370,000.
