Opel has announced Irish pricing and spec levels for the refreshed Opel Grandland, now with some upgraded equipment and the "Vizor" front-end bringing it more into line with some of Opel's other offerings such as the Mokka and new Astra.
Adaptive headlights as standard
The Grandland now gets adaptive IntelliLux headlights across the whole range, featuring 168 LED elements and High Beam Assist which dips the lights automatically at night so as not to dazzle oncoming traffic while keeping peripheral lighting bright and intact.
Plug-in hybrids coming
For now, buyers have a choice of two powertrains - one petrol and one diesel - though there are more options on the way. The 1.2-litre 130hp petrol engine can be optioned with either a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic; the 1.5-litre diesel also develops 130hp, but is only available in automatic form; the 2.0-litre diesel which once formed part of the Grandland range is no more.
Two plug-in hybrids are coming down the line, with the 225hp two-wheel drive model due in "early summer" and the more powerful 300hp all-wheel drive version scheduled for "later in 2022".
What the range looks like
Opening the range in Ireland is the Grandland SC, starting from €35,495 and featuring, as standard, a range of advanced driver assistance technologies such as active emergency braking, cruise control with speed limiter, active lane keep assist and blind-spot alert. In the way of creature comforts, there's electronically controlled dual-zone air conditioning, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone mirroring and a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, with the whole car sitting on a set of 17-inch alloy wheels.
Moving up the line, the sportier Grandland SRI starts from €37,495 and includes all the same features as the SC as well as both external and internal upgrades. For starters, there are the contrasting black roof and mirror caps, gloss black roof rails and 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the driver gets an ergonomically designed seat with electrically adjustable lumbar support, half-leather seats, a bigger 10.0-inch touchscreen (with sat-nav) and a 12.0-inch digital instrument cluster.
At the top rung of the ladder, Elite spec models starting from €39,495 build on the SRI but add keyless entry and start as standard, heated front and rear seats, heated steering wheel, electrically adjustable front seats, a full leather interior, handsfree electric tailgate and 19-inch alloy wheels.
Opel's updated Nissan Qashqai and Hyundai Tucson competitor whose arrival in Ireland had been delayed due to the global semiconductor shortage, is on sale now.
