Jaguar has given the F-Pace SUV line-up an update for the 2023 model year, and the most significant addition is that there's more battery capacity for the P400e plug-in hybrid model.
65km electric range
In fact, the F-Pace P400e PHEV's battery now holds a maximum of 19.2kWh of electrical energy, meaning that its electric-only range, according to the WLTP test, has risen from 53km to 65km - a 20 per cent increase. The extra battery capacity also means that the fuel economy has improved to a claimed 1.6 litres per 100km (you'll need to plug it in a LOT to get that figure), and emissions have fallen to 37g/km.
The F-Pace P400e's performance remains the same, so you get the same 404hp and 0-100km/h in just 5.3 seconds. Jaguar says that the model is now available in more markets than before, including Japan and Singapore, and that in hybrid-heavy markets (such as the Netherlands), the P400e accounts for 98 per cent of all F-Pace sales (it's ten per cent globally).
All F-Pace models now in R-Dynamic trim
Across the range as a whole, Jaguar has now dropped models that aren't R-Dynamic spec, leaving potential customers with a choice of R-Dynamic S, SE, and HSE versions. Standard equipment includes 19, 20 and 21-inch wheels, respectively, offered with a diamond-turned or black finish, and all-wheel options are available with optional self-sealing tyres. Above R-Dynamic sits the P400 Sport, which now has 22-inch forged wheels, while the range-topping version remains the limited edition 550hp V8 F-Pace SVR.
The Black Pack styling pack is now fitted as standard to all F-Pace models from R-Dynamic SE and above, and includes a gloss black finish applied to the door mirror caps as well as the grille, grille surround, window surrounds, fender vents, rear valance, and rear badges. Another subtle change is the R-Dynamic grille badge has been updated to a contemporary black and grey instead of red and green.
Performance and efficiency
Interior upgrades now mean that the R-Dynamic S gains the new TFT Digital Driver Display, offering a two-dial configuration with a choice of media or navigation in the centre panel, while wireless phone charging is standard from the R-Dynamic SE.
Philip Koehn, Managing Director of Jaguar, said: "As we make progress to reimagine Jaguar to an all-electric luxury brand by 2025, we have been curating our existing products by offering richer and more desirable specifications. The first nameplate to receive this change was F-Type as we move towards 2023 and celebrate 75 years of Jaguar sports cars. We now move to F-Pace, an SUV that offers an unrivalled balance of ride, handling, refinement and luxury. By Increasing the range of the P400e plug-in electric hybrid by more than 20 per cent, it becomes an even more attractive combination of performance, efficiency and zero-tailpipe emissions driving capability, and that's something we're very proud of."
