It's going to be a busy rest-of-2023 for Mercedes Ireland, as the company plans to introduce nine new, or at least significantly updated, models before the end of the year.
Electric EQE SUV
The first of these will be the EQE SUV, which - as the name suggests - is a taller, more practical version of the EQE electric saloon. Mercedes says it "offers comfort and connectivity for up to five passengers" and will go on sale in Ireland in July, boasting a 540km range.
Big and small models updated
After that, as we move into the autumn, there will be a positive bevvy of new launches, with facelifted and updated versions of almost the entire 'compact' Mercedes lineup - GLA, GLB, and CLA - as well as the larger GLE and GLE Coupe luxury SUVs. As if that wasn't enough, an updated version of the bigger, super-luxury GLS SUV is coming too.
New E-Class
Arguably the most important launch is that of the new E-Class, which will happen in the last three months of the year. While it's not going fully electric, the new saloon and estate will have two plug-in hybrid models - E300e and E400e - with sufficient battery capacity to give them an electric-only range of 115km. That's enough for most owners - those diligent enough to keep them charged up anyway - to consider them as fully-electric cars most of the time.
CLE Coupe
Finally, and this is the one about which we currently know the least, we will see the introduction of the new CLE Coupe by the end of the year. This new car essentially replaces two current models - the C-Class Coupe and the E-Class Coupe - and aims to weave together the agility of the smaller car with the comfort and refinement of the larger model. It will come with mild-hybrid petrol and diesel engines and plug-in hybrid power.
