Renault offers grant on electric Megane

Renault offers EV bonus as SEAI grant for electric cars is reduced.

Renault is offering a grant bonus of €1,500 to those buying a new electric Megane E-Tech or Zoe E-Tech this July.

The offer comes as the SEAI grant for private electric car buyers has been reduced from €5,000 to €3,500. However, Renault promises that customers can still 'retain the benefit' of a full €5,000 grant.

The new Megane E-Tech is now available to order and collect at Renault dealerships immediately. Customers can also avail of any in-house dealership offers when buying, including home chargers, increased trade-in or low-rate finance.

Megane E-Tech Electric

The Megane E-Tech Electric entered production in 2022, inspired by the Renault Megane eVision concept of 2020. It is the first of a new generation of electric cars based on the 'CMF-EV' platform and the first Renault model to feature the redesigned 'NouvelR' Renault badging.

Inside, the Megane has digital instruments and a touchscreen offering Android Auto connectivity with Google services. The car also features up to 26 driver assistance systems, helping it to achieve a five-star Euro NCAP rating.

Three trim levels are available - Equilibre, Techno and Launch Edition.

The Megane E-Tech is available with two powertrains - a 60kWh battery with a 450km range, linked to a 220hp electric motor, or a 40kWh battery with 300 kilometres of range and a 130hp electric motor. Furthermore, 85kW DC and 22kW AC charging are standard on all versions.

Money talks

Those interested in buying can receive the full €5,000 grant amount, made up of both the €3,500 SEAI grant and the €1,500 bonus from Renault - further savings can also be made by taking advantage of a reduced APR of 4.9 per cent, down from 5.9 per cent on all Megane E-Tech models.

The maximum GMFV (Guaranteed Minimum Future Value) will also be increased to 50 per cent on the model, saving customers almost €2,000 in long-term finance payments according to Renault.

The offer is aimed at those looking to switch or upgrade their EV, with each of Renault's 31 authorised dealerships also offering deals.

Renault's in-house bank can offer PCP finance from €249 per month with 4.9 per cent APR - though buyers are encouraged to ask their local Renault dealer for any specific additional offers.
