Jeep's new all-electric Avenger will cost from €35,995 when it goes on sale in Ireland in mid-October. That's a more competitive starting price than we had been expecting.
400km range, or 550km around town
That €35,995 will get you an entry-level Longitude model, which comes as standard with Jeep's new 54kWh battery and 156hp electric motor, resulting in a claimed WLTP one-charge range of 400km, or 550km if you're driving in town.
That battery will charge at up to 100kW from a DC fast charging station, allowing a 20-80 per cent recharge in just 24 minutes or an extra 30km in just three minutes. For AC charging, there's an 11kW system.
All models, from the Longitude on up, will come with Jeep's 'Selec-Terrain' driving modes, which include the usual Sport, Normal, and Eco settings but which also comes with off-roading modes for mud, sand, and snow. The driving modes also alter the electric motor's power output, cutting it to 80hp to preserve range for longer journeys.
Cyclist and pedestrian detection
Available safety equipment includes blind spot monitoring, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic parking assistance, and a rear-view camera.
The next trim up in the range, Altitude, costs from €39,495 and includes premium seat trim, a contrasting silver dashboard panel, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a hands-free electric tailgate.
The top-spec Avenger model will be the Summit, which will come with full LED headlights, radar-guided cruise control and lane-keeping steering, and 360-degree parking sensors and camera, for a price tag of €42,495.
