As is the trend in the automotive industry, Volvo has recently announced that a smartphone app is to be made available for its premium SUV, the Volvo XC90. Buyers of the 2012 model of the car will be able to access a virtual dashboard on their Apple or Android phone to see information such as the fuel level, average fuel consumption and an odometer reading while a car check function will display information about bulbs, brake fluid level and engine oil level and pressure readings.
For those who have ever 'misplaced' their XC90 in a car park there will also be a car locator that shows the cars location on a map as well as a handy compass to point you in the right direction.
The smartphone app will be backed up by cosmetic changes to the Volvo XC90 that include new LED day-running lights, a redesigned bumper and rear light configuration and new 18-inch alloy wheels. The XC90's cabin will also be refreshed with a new three-spoke steering wheel, aluminium décor and a watch inspired instrument binnacle.
These changes are set to be made to the existing model line-up and two new versions of the XC90 called 'Executive' and 'R-Design'. The Executive model will feature a number of options such as soft leather seats with ventilation and massage giving the car a more exclusive touch. The R-Design version will boast a 'special' chassis, redesigned upholstery, inlays, door panels and new 19-inch wheels to give it, what Volvo promises, is a more driver-focused personality.
