Tesla updates its Model 3 with new design, safety and tech features.

Tesla has introduced the updated version of its popular Model 3 to the Irish market. With over two million units sold globally and six years since the first Model 3 hit the road, the new iteration features a slight restyle, new paint colours and a significantly updated interior.

Irish pricing for the Model 3

The upgraded Model 3 is now available for order in Ireland, starting at €42,990 for the rear-wheel-drive model and €50,990 for the Long Range all-wheel-drive version. Prices are inclusive of the €5,000 SEAI electric vehicle grant.

Exterior updates

On the outside, the upgraded Model 3 features a new front fascia with sharper headlights and a redesigned rear end with new taillights. Two new colour options, Ultra Red and Stealth Grey, have been introduced.

Interior design

The Model 3's interior has also received several upgrades, with new materials and redesigned seats that now come with ventilation and heating. The centre console has been revamped, offering increased storage space and dual wireless phone chargers. The 15.4-inch centre display, while still the same size, now has a more usable screen area and receives over-the-air (OTA) updates for continuous improvements.

For the first time, the Model 3 features customisable ambient lighting that wraps around the entire cabin, allowing owners to set the mood according to their preferences. Back-seat passengers benefit from an eight-inch display with integrated climate control, ventilation and entertainment.

Enhanced comfort and quietness

Tesla claims to have worked on creating a quieter cabin, employing features like 360-degree acoustic glass, improved suspension bushings, seals and sound-dampening materials. These enhancements are said to have reduced wind and road noise while improving ambient noise isolation.

The audio system has also been upgraded, with the Model 3 Long Range getting 17 speakers, dual subwoofers and dual amplifiers. The Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive comes with nine speakers, a single subwoofer and an amplifier. The audio system now includes native support for popular music streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music and Tidal.

Technology enhancements

Connectivity features in the Model 3 have been improved, providing stronger mobile phone signal strength, expanded Wi-Fi range and enhanced phone key performance via Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology.

Safety features

The updated Model 3 includes several new safety features. Both front door pillars are now equipped with blind-spot indicators in the upper speaker grille, improving safety during lane changes. Additionally, there is an audio warning when the speed limit is exceeded, helping drivers stay within legal limits.

Streamlined driving experience

Tesla has streamlined the driving experience, with the Model 3 now automatically handling tasks such as unlocking the vehicle, powering it on and disengaging the parking brake. According to Tesla, this automation simplifies the driving experience, making it more intuitive and user-friendly.

Model 3 specifications

The Model 3 is available in two configurations in Ireland. The Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive offers a WLTP range of 554km with 18-inch wheels and acceleration from 0-100km/h in 6.1 seconds, priced at €42,990.

The Model 3 Long Range has a WLTP range of 678km with 18-inch wheels and a swift 0-100 km/h sprint of just 4.4 seconds. It is priced from €50,990.
