Lexus Ireland has announced that the new LBX compact hybrid crossover will have a starting price of €38,570. That's for the entry-level Elegant version. If you like, you can spend a little extra and trade up to the Emotion model for €40,270.
1.5-litre hybrid
What do you get for those prices? Well, the LBX comes with one powertrain option - a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol-electric hybrid developing up to 136hp, with CO2 emissions of 110g/km and official fuel consumption of 4.8 litres per 100km (those figures are still provisional and will be finalised at the end of November, we're told).
Elegant trim comes as standard with the Lexus Safety Sense 3 package including pre-collision detection, pedestrian and cyclist detection, a rear-view camera, lane-trace steering and traffic sign recognition. There's also radar-guided cruise control, a speed limiter and parking sensors front and rear.
9.8-inch infotainment screen
Buyers also get dusk sensor headlights, dual-zone climate control, ambient cabin lighting, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, a seven-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9.8-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cloud-based navigation, heated sports front seats with 'Tahara' leather trim, automatic high-beam headlights and 18-inch alloy wheels finished in a high-gloss dark grey.
Trade up to the Emotion model, and there's perforated leather upholstery, 18-inch alloy wheels with a machined finish, privacy glass, keyless entry and ignition, extra USB-C sockets in the back, wireless phone charging and a two-tone exterior paint finish with a contrast roof colour.
Pale or black upholstery
The colour choices, incidentally, are Sonic White, Sonic Copper, Sonic Chrome, Sparkling Silver, Urban Grey, Midnight Black, Ruby, Passionate Yellow and Neptune Blue. Elegant models come with pale Ammonite Sand leather upholstery inside, while Emotion models get black leather with contrast red stitching.
As standard, the LBX will come with a three-year, 100,000km manufacturer's warranty, plus a five-year, 100,000km warranty specifically for the hybrid system, including the battery. If you keep your LBX serviced at a main Lexus dealer, though, that warranty automatically renews each year for an additional 12 months or 15,000km for up to ten years or 185,000km - appropriately, that's known as the Lexus Relax programme.
