Citroen has revealed an update for its electric e-SpaceTourer van-based MPV, hot on the heels of a similar facelift for the smaller e-Berlingo.
New logo
Like the Berlingo, the e-SpaceTourer gets a newly designed front end, which features the latest iteration of the Citroen logo - the famed double chevrons are now encased in an oval shape - and new headlights that feature distinctive three-bar LED light signatures.
There are new paint options too; Titanium Grey and Kapari Green are added to the list with Icy White, Cumulus Grey and Perla Nera Black, while there's a choice of 17-inch steel wheels with trims or 17-inch alloy wheels which come with a new 'spider' centre incorporating the new logo.
Inside is a new ten-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with - for the top-spec models - a 3D-connected sat-nav. There's also optional wireless phone charging, but the e-SpaceTourer is well set up for charging, with four USB-C sockets dotted around the interior and two 12-volt sockets too.
Two lengths on offer
The e-SpaceTourer comes in one height - 1.9 metres - and two lengths - M (4.98 metres) and L (5.33 metres). Depending on how you spec your car, there's seating for up to nine people. At the top of the range is the 'Business Lounge' pack, which comes with a reversible second row and seats up to seven people.
In the front, the passenger seat with armrest can be folded flat (depending on the pack) allowing long objects to be loaded or the view to be unobstructed for passengers in row two.
In the second and third rows, the three-seater bench seats split 60:40, are sliding (depending on the pack), folding and removable. They can slide independently to adjust legroom. The seats are removable, giving optimum volume for bulky items, and occupants have reclining backrests with headrests for total comfort.
If you take all of the seats out, you get a completely flat floor and up to 4,554 litres of load space, so the boot room will not be an issue.
Optionally, the sliding side doors are electric, with a touchless operation for when your hands are full - just slide your foot under the corner of the back bumper. Around the tailgate, the rear glass opens separately, so loading smaller items is easy.
More range
Safety is high on the e-SpaceTourer's agenda, with up to 17 electronic driver aids available depending on the spec, including keyless entry and start, hill-start assist, reversing camera with Top Rear Vision, adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, as well as safety-enhancing technologies including automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, driver attention alert, lane keeping assist, collision warning, automatic headlight dipping and traffic sign recognition.
The e-SpaceTourer will now come with a choice of battery capacities. There's a basic 50kWh (46kWh useable) version with a range of up to 224km of range, or a new large battery version, which gets a 75kWh pack (68kWh useable) with a range of up to 350km. Both battery packs drive the same 136hp electric motor, and both will charge at up to 100kW on DC fast power or (optionally) 11kW on slower DC power.
Citroen Ireland has told CompleteCar that the updated e-SpaceTourer will arrive here in the second quarter of 2024.
