Fernando Alonso may tootle around in a Fiat 500 while Sebastien Vettel has recently taken delivery of a special edition Infiniti FX50S SUV, but the king of the F1 paddock, at least when it comes to his own wheels, is Jenson Button. Over the years the former world champion has counted a Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari Enzo and Porsche Carrera GT amongst his fleet but having just taken delivery of a McLaren MP4-12C company car the Head & Shoulders spokesman has decided to sell his low mileage Ford GT.
The car is being offered for sale by Bradford based kings of bling Project Kahn with a pricetag of £129,995 (about €150,000), which, when you consider that Jenson only racked up 3,500 miles in his five years of ownership, seems remarkably good value. As befitting a car that is the fastest production Ford ever built the GT is powered by a 5.4-litre supercharged V8 churning out 500hp and a colossal 745Nm of torque. If you are skilled and brave enough, and we are assuming Jenson is, the GT can spring from 0-100km/h in less than four seconds before sailing onto a top speed of 341km/h.
When asked about the Ford GT, Project Kahn boss Afzal Kahn said: "It's exciting to have such a rare and great vehicle in stock - this one is certainly in a league of its own. It's a really good investment with the current value increasing by ten per cent each year, and since it was owned by Jensen Button, it's perfect!"
Jenson was unavailable for comment but one would assume he would describe the experience of driving the Ford GT as 'bracing!'
