SEAT reveals new baby

The Mii is SEAT's version of the tiny VW up!. No confirmation on plans for Ireland as yet.

SEAT has released details of its version of the VW up! city car; the Mii. It will go on sale in Spain by the end of the year and be available in Ireland in June 2012 with a five-door version also in the pipeline.

Power comes from a 1.0-litre petrol engine offered in 60- and 75hp power outputs. SEAT claims the 854kg Mii will offer 'nimble agility and exemplary efficiency'. Claimed top speeds for the two versions are 160- and 170km/h while the fuel consumption figures are 4.5- and 4.7 litres/100km (about 60mpg). Two Ecomotive versions will be offered with a stop-start system and other fuel saving measures. These promise CO2 emissions of 97g/km and 4.2 litres/100km consumption.

Equipment includes City Safety Assist, which works at speeds below 30km/h to detect a stationary vehicle ahead and warn the driver before applying the brakes. There is also the SEAT Portable System, an on-board navigation, communication and entertainment system. This features a five-inch screen and can be removed for use away from the car.

Although in profile the Mii bears a strong resemblance to its VW and Skoda cousins the car gets a scaled-down version of the SEAT corporate 'face'.

Full details of prices, specifications and equipment levels for right-hand drive models will be released in due course.
