New interior and one powertrain option for updated Aston Martin SUV.

Aston Martin has unveiled an updated version of the DBX, to keep what the company calls its 'Supercar of SUVs' at the front of the high-performance 4x4 pack.

One model option

There are significant revisions to the interior based around Aston Martin's latest infotainment system, while the car's electronics have been tweaked to deliver a more focused driving experience. And to demonstrate that this SUV means business, it's now only available in high-performance DBX707 guise.

As before, the Mercedes-AMG-sourced 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 makes 707hp and 900Nm of torque. It's still connected to a nine-speed automatic gearbox that sends drive to all four wheels, with the ability to send up to 100 per cent of power to the rear wheels on demand. Aston Martin quotes a 0-100km/h time of 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 311km/h.

Aston Martin's engineers have recalibrated the DBX's electronic dampers and air springs for improved body control, which is said to improve the car's response and precision at higher speeds. Bringing the car to a halt are carbon ceramic disc brakes that measure 420mm and 390mm in diameter, front and rear respectively. There are 22-inch wheels fitted as standard, while 23-inch cast or forged alloys are available as an option.

Significant interior updates

The revisions to the DBX707's cabin are inspired by the new Aston Martin DB12 and revised Vantage sports cars. The cabin is designed to feel more like a sports car's than an SUV's, with a horizontal theme bisecting the dashboard. The centre console has been simplified because of the new touchscreen system, but there are still physical controls for gear and drive mode selection, as well as for the climate control system.

New digital displays have been incorporated into the layout, with a 12.3-inch instrument cluster for the driver - 1.5 inches larger than the set-up found in the DB12 and Vantage - and a 10.25-inch touchscreen that runs Aston Martin's new software. There's wireless smartphone connectivity, plus full compatibility with the Aston Martin customer app, and multi-finger gesture control is offered on the capacitive display.

There's an 800w 14-speaker sound system as standard, or buyers can upgrade to a Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system with 23 speakers, 3D surround sound and a 1,600w amplifier, all of which has been optimised for the DBX’s interior.

Elsewhere in the cabin, there's a new steering wheel, air vents and door releases, while new materials are available for the door panels, including carbon fibre, gloss black oak and titanium mesh finishes. Three different interior trim options will be offered, or customers can take advantage of the bespoke Q by Aston Martin service to personalise their cars, at extra cost of course.

New exterior options

Aston Martin has also paid attention to the DBX707's exterior, with new pop-out doorhandles and revised door mirrors incorporating cameras that are part of the 3D surround view system. Exterior colours include new shades of black, yellow and three types of green, while Podium Green - which was previously exclusive to the DBX707 AMR23 Edition - is now available as an option. The wheels are available in new colours, too, with a copper bronze finish being added to the line-up.

Speaking at the DBX707 unveiling, Marco Mattiacci, Global Chief Brand and Commercial Officer of Aston Martin said: “With its best-in-class performance and dynamics, world-class design and the highest levels of luxury, the DBX707 immediately established a new ultra-luxury SUV benchmark. Now upgraded with state-of-the-art technology and a completely new interior the DBX707 moves the game on once more, further elevating the standard by which all competitors are judged.”

The revised Aston Martin DBX707 is available to order now, with deliveries expected to commence in Q3 of 2024.
