MG Ireland has announced prices for the new MG 3 Hybrid+ hatchback, and the new model will start at a low €22,995 for the Essence model.
First deliveries in July
The first examples of the new MG 3 Hybrid+ will be arriving in Irish dealerships in the next few weeks, and the first customer cars should be delivered in time for the ‘242’ number plate change in July.
The MG 3’s hybrid powertrain is built around a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a parallel hybrid system which allows it to run on electric-only power for short bursts. It’s noticeably more powerful than most hybrid cars of this size, deploying a maximum 194hp from its petrol engine and electric motor. That allows the MG 3 to sprint from 0-100km/h in 8.0 seconds, while delivering an official CO2 emissions figure of 100g/km.
Excited and Exclusive models too
Standard specification for the Essence model includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a seven-inch digital driver’s display screen. There’s also standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and MG Pilot assistance systems including active cruise control and lane keeping assist. There will also be two higher-specification versions - the Excite at €24,745, and the Exclusive at €26,745. Excite trim includes 16-inch alloys, electric folding exterior mirrors, a six-speaker audio system and rear air vents. Exclusive models get projector LED headlights, a 360-degree parking camera system, heated front seats and steering wheel, plus an upgraded MG Pilot safety pack.
Tech-savvy
According to MG: “The Essence, as the entry-level model, offers a comprehensive suite of features making it a perfect choice for those new to hybrid technology or looking for an economical yet stylish vehicle. The mid-range Excite adds enhanced comfort and convenience features, catering to families and tech-savvy individuals. At the top of the range, the Exclusive model delivers luxury and advanced technologies for a truly premium driving experience.”
As with all current MG models, the MG 3 Hybrid+ will come with a seven-year, 150,000km warranty. The new MG 3 is also part of a big push for MG in the European and Irish markets in the coming years. As well as this compact hybrid, there will also be the Cyberster all-electric sports car, updates for the existing MG 4 and MG ZS models, a replacement for the mid-size HS SUV with a long-range plug-in hybrid system, and more models to follow in 2025 and beyond. It’s part of MG’s strategy to push its sales past the 300,000 mark in Europe.
