MG has announced its special offers for the 242 registration change in July, and there’s a major discount for the MG 4 electric hatchback.
€4,000 off an MG 4
In fact, you can have €4,000 taken off the cost of the cheapest version of the MG 4, with its 310km range, giving it a starting price of €25,995 - making it one of the most affordable electric cars you can currently buy. There are similar discounts for the bigger-battery (450km range) versions, with the Excite model reduced to €29,495 and the Exclusive to €32,995.
Don’t fancy the up-front discount? That’s OK, as there’s also the option of a zero per cent finance package instead of the €4,000 price reduction. All MG 4 models come as standard with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the MG Pilot electronic driver assistance package, and a seven-year warranty.
Discounts for ZS and MG 5 too
The MG ZS EV compact electric crossover is also getting some discounts. The highly equipped, standard-range Exclusive model (with its 320km range) is now €31,495. The longer-range (44km) Excite model now starts from €30,995, while the long-range Exclusive version is €33,995.
Excite versions of the ZS EV come with 17-inch alloy wheels, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, and a 360-degree parking camera while Exclusive models add heated leather seats, built-in sat-nav, and wireless phone charging.
Finally, there’s the MG 5 EV estate, which has now been discounted to €29,995 for the long-range Excite version (with a 403km range) and €33,245 for the long-range Exclusive version. All MG 5 EVs come as standard with sat-nav, a reversing camera, and 16-inch alloy wheels.

Now, it’s worth noting that these prices won’t stick around forever. MG Ireland has told CompleteCar that: “These exclusive 242 special offers are available for a limited time only, and with stock being limited, customers are encouraged to act quickly to avoid disappointment. This is a unique opportunity to drive away in a high-quality MG vehicle at an exceptional value.”
Oh, and if you were hoping for a similar discount on the high-performance MG 4 X-Power, well, you’re out of luck - it remains priced at €42,995.
