GoPlugable has picked Ohme, a Cork-based electric vehicle (EV) charging company, as its official home charger partner in Ireland. This partnership aims to make it easier for EV drivers to find and share home charging points.
GoPlugable, started in 2023, helps EV drivers locate, reserve and share home charging points. This service is especially useful for those who don’t have easy access to home charging. With this partnership, owners of Ohme chargers can earn money by sharing their chargers when not in use. Ohme customers will also get a special offer when they sign up on the GoPlugable platform, too.
Maebh Reynolds, CEO of GoPlugable, said, “We are delighted to announce Ohme as our official home charging partner. With Ohme the fastest-growing smart EV charging company in Ireland, it’s great for us to be working with them to help with the transition to greater EV adoption in all forms.”
David Watson, CEO of Ohme, added, “GoPlugable is a really exciting new company for Ireland, helping to grow EV adoption and make it easier for drivers to make the switch. “This collaboration will help Ohme customers not only to get paid from renting their charger out to other EV users, but to help play a part in growing the EV public charging network.”
Ohme’s smart chargers connect easily with all electricity suppliers in Ireland and can adjust charging times to save money with off-peak tariffs. For example, charging a 77kWh Volkswagen ID.3 from 0 to 100 per cent with an Ohme charger on an off-peak tariff, such as SSE Airtricity’s Night Boost, could cost just €7.34 for a range of more than 574 kilometres (according to WLTP figures). This means an annual cost of less than €130 for 10,000 kilometres of driving. Ohme also allows charging when renewable energy is highest, reducing CO2 emissions.
Ohme is the official EV charger provider for Volkswagen Group, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo Cars and Polestar in Ireland. It has also partnered with Donegal County Council and Iarnród Éireann. Ohme has received awards such as Fast Track Company of the Year in the 2023, UK Green Business Awards and Best Chargepoint Manufacturer in the 2024 Irish EV Awards.
