The first examples of the electric Audi Q6 e-tron SUV have arrived, priced from €75,600.

The Audi Q6 e-tron is a large electric SUV built on the German firm’s new EV-only platform architecture (shared with Porsche) and now that the first examples have landed on Irish shores, Audi Ireland has released full pricing and specification details.

How much is the Audi Q6 e-tron in Ireland?

Irish prices start at €75,600 for the entry-level model. It’s the only offered with an 83kWh battery (78kWh of which is usable). A single rear-mounted electric motor produces up to 292hp for a 0-100km/h time of seven seconds and an official range of 520km.

Audi expects the next rung up the ladder to be the most popular. Called the Q6 e-tron Performance, it does indeed get a modest boost in power - up to 306hp - though it sticks with rear-wheel drive from a single motor. Audi quotes a 0-100km/h time of 6.6 seconds for this version though the main attraction is its longer range of up to 635km. That’s thanks to the fitment of a larger battery, a 100kWh unit with 94.9kWh usable. Prices start at €81,000.

Above that sits the Q6 e-tron quattro from €87,600. As the name suggests, this has quattro all-wheel drive from an electric motor on each axle. Peak power is 387hp, dropping the 0-100km/h time to 5.9 seconds, while the same 100kWh battery allows for an official range between charges of up to 622km.

Both Advance and S line trim levels are available with each of the three powertrains and maximum charging speed on a DC connection is 270kW.

And what comes as standard?

Standard equipment includes the Tech pack featuring heated seats front and rear, a heated steering wheel, electric tailgate, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, Park Assist Plus, electric folding, heated door mirrors and more.

Buyers can add the Tech Plus pack for €3,400, bringing with it Digital Light signatures for the exterior LED lighting, the e-tron Sports Sound, sport suspension and the front-seat passenger touchscreen.

The Tech Pro upgrade includes all of that, plus Digital OLED rear lights, adaptive air suspension and Drive & Park Assist Plus, for a total cost of €5,900.

For a limited time, there will be a Launch Edition of the Q6 e-tron based on the quattro variant and priced at €87,600. It’s effectively an S line model for the same price as the Advance trim with a few extra bits and pieces, and a PCP offer that starts at €698 per month.

What if I fancy something more powerful?

Topping the lineup for now is the new SQ6 e-tron, retailing at €107,235. It features a unique specification inside and out, plus a dual-motor layout producing up to 489hp. That means 0-100km/h in just 4.2 seconds, though the range from the 100kWh battery drops to 596km.

Any other news from Audi?

It has been confirmed that the Q6 e-tron will sire a new Sportback variant shortly, with a sportier appearance, though this is just the tip of the iceberg from Audi as it embarks on probably its biggest new-car launch offensive ever. This year and into 2025 it will launch 20 new models, and more than 10 of them are fully electric.

At the same time Audi is reinventing its naming strategy. Going forward, cars with even-numbered badges will be fully electric while those with odd numbers will have engines (including hybrids). The next car to be unveiled will be the Audi A5, available as a five-door fastback - to replace the Audi A4 saloon - and A5 Avant estate. No word on a new A4, but the smart money goes on it being reinvented as the all-electric A4 e-tron.

On the subject of reinvention, the all-electric A6 e-tron will be offered as a Sportback and Avant estate as well, and though Audi hasn’t confirmed as such, it’s expected that the next-gen A7 will take over duties as the internal-combustion-engined alternative.

All-new Audi Q3 and Q5 SUVs are in the pipeline in the next year or so as well.
