The new Peugeot 3008 and E-3008 have arrived in Ireland, and prices start from €43,965. Against the run of many expectations, that lowest price is for the fully-electric E-3008, with the 1.2-litre hybrid version costing a mere €30 more, at €43,995.
How much range does the E-3008 have?
A very decent range, as it happens. The standard-range model, with a 210hp electric motor and a 73kWh (useable) battery, has a range of 527km on the official WLTP test. That model is available in Allure spec at the entry price of €43,965, or there’s a sportier-looking GT model for €49,795. The 73kWh battery version of the E-3008 will be joined in early 2025 by a bigger battery, 98kWh model capable of 680km on one charge, while there’s a 320hp dual-motor four-wheel drive model coming too.
The hybrid version of the 3008, based around the 1.2-litre 136hp petrol engine, costs from €43,995 in Allure trim or €47,995 for the GT version.
How fast can the E-3008 charge?
Both models are based on the Stellantis Group’s new STLA-Medium electric car platform, which means that the E-3008 gets a 400-volt electrical architecture and fast charging of up to 160kW on a DC charging point. It’ll charge at up to 11kW on slower AC power. There’s also a vehicle-to-load (V2L) system, which allows you to charge or power external electrical devices from the E-3008’s battery. To help conserve energy, a heat-pump heating and air conditioning system comes as standard.
Built into the E-3008’s electronics are both a Trip Planner function (which automatically selects the best charging points along your route if you select a destination that’s further than the battery can take you) and a Smart Charging function, which can adjust how and when the battery is charged - say, when charging overnight - to take advantage of the best possible electricity costs.
Is the new 3008 still practical?
This generation of 3008 gets rather more rakish styling than that of the previous model, with a fastback look that still manages to pack in a useful 520-litre boot. 19-inch alloy wheels are standard, with 20-inch alloys as an option.
Allure models come, as standard, with the 21-inch curved ‘i-Cockpit’ screen, which includes both the driver’s instrument panel and the central infotainment screen. There are also ‘i-Toggle’ shortcut buttons, which are customisable according to your tastes. Keyless entry is also standard, as are wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ambient cabin lighting, ‘Eco’ LED headlights, dark-tinted rear privacy glass, dual-zone climate control with rear air vents, 15-watt wireless phone charging, and a 360-degree parking camera.
GT models add ‘Pixel’ LED headlights, 3D-effect LED rear lights, eight-colour ambient cabin lighting, frameless electrochrome rear view mirror, Alcantara and leather trim, with heated front seats, contrast black roof and rear spoiler, electric tailgate with handsfree operation, rear central armrest with cupholders and storage, ‘Highway Assist’ electronic driver assistance, the Peugeot ‘Shield’ badge on the front wings, and for the electric model in GT form, standard 20-inch alloy wheels.
