We’re still just over a week away from the Paris Motor Show (yes, motor shows are still a thing…) but Renault is clearly getting excited about it, and the company is eagerly letting us know what it’s going to be bringing to the biggest European motor show of the year.
Renault takes over Hall 6
Renault’s four brands - Renault itself, Dacia, Alpine, and Renault Mobilize financial services and on-demand mobility - will sprawl across five stands in Hall 6 at the Porte De Versailles, just outside Paris.
Renault’s big star of the show will be the production version of the all-electric new Renault 4 crossover, a b-segment electric car with retro styling based on the classic, original Renault 4 and aimed at the sort of customer who thinks a Captur is just a bit too predictable. Renault played with fire and won when it came to re-inventing the classic Renault 5 as an electric car, so can it score another big retro-look win with the R4?
Mysterious concept car
The dinky little electric Twingo concept will, we hope, also get another airing in Paris - not because it’s any different to what we’ve already seen, but just because it’s adorable. Renault will also be holding some celebrations for winning the European Car Of The Year award with the new electric Scenic, as well as showing off the newly-launched Symbioz hybrid SUV alongside the SUV-Coupe Rafale. There will also be a - so far - mysterious concept car which will “embody the brand's future in terms of sustainability and decarbonisation.”
Renault’s van division will also be showing off a concept of a new commercial vehicle, as well as a hydrogen-powered prototype of the new Master van.
Dacia will show off the Bigster
Dacia, meanwhile, will finally be showing off the full production version of its Bigster SUV. Well, we assume so anyway. Officially, Dacia says that it will “exhibit a new vehicle to launch its offensive in the C-segment.” Basically, that means the Bigster, which will sit above the new Duster in the Dacia lineup. Don’t expect to see too many differences between it and the concept version.
Dacia will also be showing off the fact that the humble Sandero hatchback is Europe’s best-selling car right now, and will be displaying the awesome Sandrider off-road racer, which is currently testing ahead of the Dakar Rally in January.
Next-generation Alpine
Alpine, Renault’s sports car and racing brand, will be showing off a preview of its next production model - most likely an electric crossover designed to expand the brand to family buyers, and which will sit alongside the just-launched A290 electric hatchback (a hot-hatch version of the new electric Renault 5) in Alpine’s ‘Dream Garage’. The electric replacement for the A110 sports car? We’ll probably have to wait a bit longer for that, alas.
Finally, Renault Mobilize will be showing off its new two-seat electric quadricycle, called the Duo, which is a rival to the Citroen Ami, as well as the Bento, a version of the Duo aimed at urban delivery services. Mobilize will also exhibit its home charging and fast charging solutions.
