The Citroen Ami has officially launched in Ireland. Designed for urban and short-distance travel, the Ami offers a compact approach to electric mobility and is billed as an alternative to scooters, bicycles, mopeds and public transport.
Compact and practical design
The Citroen Ami is an ultra-compact quadricycle measuring just 2.41 metres in length, 1.39 metres in width and 1.52 metres in height. It has a 5.5kWh battery with an official range of up to 75km on a full charge. Charging the battery takes four hours using the supplied ‘type 2’ charging adapter, and the cable neatly stores in the passenger door frame.
With a starting price of €9,990, the Citroen Ami is one of the most affordable electric mobility options in Ireland. As a quadricycle, it requires a standard car or category B driving licence, as well as insurance and motor tax, for use on Irish roads.
Two versions available
The Ami is available in two versions: the basic Ami Ami and the more dynamic Ami Peps.
The Ami Ami is priced at €9,990. This version can be enhanced by optional colour packs (My Ami Grey, My Ami Blue or My Ami Orange) that can be self-installed, adding functional and decorative items such as wheel trims, interior storage trays and door storage nets. These colour packs are available from Citroen dealerships priced €715 each.
The Ami Peps is priced at €10,790. This version comes with the colour pack accessories pre-installed, and has a more expressive design with unique stickers, a rear spoiler and floral-design wheel covers. It also includes the “Citroen Switch” Bluetooth button and DAT@MI dongle, which connect the vehicle to the MyCitroen app.
Key features
The Ami has a maximum speed of 45km/h. The vehicle’s large glass surfaces - including the windscreen, panoramic roof, side windows and rear window - enhance visibility and give the car a sense of space. The side windows manually tilt upwards, reminiscent of the original Citroen 2CV. Despite its compact size, the Ami’s interior storage includes space for a cabin-sized suitcase at the passenger's feet.
The Ami also features the “My Ami Play” interface, which turns your smartphone into an entertainment dashboard, which gives access to navigation, music and other apps to enhance the driving experience.
My Cargo Kit
Citroen is also offering the My Cargo Kit which allows the Ami to be used as a delivery vehicle. The kit makes it possible to switch between carrying a passenger and transporting goods, with up to 200 litres of storage space available.
Availability in Ireland
The Citroen Ami is available to order now. Irish pricing excludes dealer and delivery related charges. Test drives are currently being offered at selected Citroen dealerships across Ireland.
