New Citroen C4 and C4 X models get updated designs and enhanced tech ahead of 2025 release.

Citroen has revealed its updated C4 and C4 X models, marking a refreshed design for these C-segment cars. Both models, which are on display this week at the Paris motor show, feature design improvements and new technology, with the first vehicles set to arrive in Irish dealerships in early 2025.

What’s new about the exterior and cabin?

The new C4 and C4 X have been updated to offer a cleaner, more modern design. The front end of both models now incorporates Citroen’s new logo, and the LED headlights feature a distinctive light signature with three horizontal segments. These design elements not only give the vehicles a bolder look but are also claimed to improve aerodynamic efficiency.
Two new paint colours have been added to the range, called 'Manhattan Green' and 'Eclipse Blue’. These hues will be available alongside Elixir Red, Okenite White, Perla Nera Black (pearlescent) and Mercury Grey.
In terms of interior updates, the C4 and C4 X come equipped with a new design of Citroen Advanced Comfort seats, with thicker foam for improved comfort. The seven-inch digital instrument cluster and 10-inch touchscreen have also been upgraded to provide greater clarity and ease of use. Additionally, both models are fitted with up to 20 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including active safety brake, collision risk alert and adaptive cruise control, making driving safer and more convenient.

Are they electric-only cars?

Citroen continues its push toward electrification, offering both electric and hybrid powertrains for the C4 and C4 X. Customers can choose between hybrid versions, such as the Hybrid 100 and Hybrid 136, as well as fully electric models with either 100kW or 115kW electric motors. The fully electric versions of the C4 X offer a range of up to 425km (according to WLTP conditions). The PureTech 130 EAT8 petrol model is also available.

New technology and infotainment

New to the Citroen C4 in the electric models is V2L (Vehicle-to-Load), which allows the car’s battery to power external devices, turning the car into a mobile energy source. This feature is particularly useful for outdoor activities or in areas with limited access to electricity, for example powering up devices whilst on a camping trip.

Both models also include Citroen’s latest infotainment system, featuring a 10-inch HD screen with customisable widgets and natural voice recognition. The system offers real-time navigation, updated traffic information, and charging station locations for electric vehicles.
