Peugeot Ireland has opened the order books for the new 5008 and E-5008 seven-seat SUVs. Prices start from €50,995, the same for both the fully electric version and the petrol hybrid.
502km range with more to come
The electric E-5008 gets a 73kWh battery and a 210hp electric motor, and a range of up to 502km on one charge. Early next year, that model will be joined by a big-battery 98kWh version with a range of up to 668km. The E-5008’s battery can be charged at up to 160kW on DC fast-charging power, allowing a 10-80 per cent top up in 30 minutes.
Hybrid version
The 5008 hybrid uses the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and 48-volt hybrid system as the smaller 3008 SUV. That engine provides 136hp and has a claimed fuel economy of 5.8 litres per 100km. Peugeot claims that in urban driving, the 5008 hybrid can spend as much as 50 per cent of each journey running on battery power.
Seven seats
Both models come with seven seats as standard, with a middle row of three seats that slide, recline, and fold down flat. Three-zone climate control is also standard.
Adaptive cruise control
The entry-level Allure versions feature seats featuring embossed fabric with ‘Quartz’ stitching and leather-effect trim. They also have adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, wireless smartphone charging, keyless entry and start, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, blind spot detection, ‘three-claw’ LED daytime running lights and rear lights, and 19-inch alloy wheels.
Pixel LED headlights
GT models, which are priced at €54,995 for the hybrid and €54,495 for the electric E-5008, get a ‘Black Diamond’ contrast roof and Alcantara man-made suede upholstery along with 20-inch alloy wheels (optional) for electric versions, ‘Pixel’ LED headlights, 3D LED rear lights, a handsfree smart electric tailgate, heated seats and a heated steering wheel.
