Lexus now ahead of several key rivals.

Lexus has been having a good year in Ireland. Strong results for the NX medium-sized SUV and the compact LBX model have propelled the brand up the sales charts.

Ahead of key rivals

Looking at the numbers, Lexus has risen to sixth overall in sales terms in the premium and luxury brand segment, putting it ahead of Land Rover, Jaguar, Polestar, MINI and Porsche.

In the overall sales charts, Lexus has risen to 24th position, putting it ahead not just of those other luxury brands but also outselling several mainstream marques.

64 per cent increase in sales

In fact, Lexus has sold more than 1,000 new cars in Ireland so far this year, the first time that has happened since 2008. This represents a 64 per cent year-on-year increase in an overall car market that has largely been flat. It gives Lexus a healthy five per cent market share in the premium segment.

Plug-in hybrid success

Sales of the NX hybrid SUV have risen by 42 per cent compared to 2023 figures, reaching 331 customers, while the compact LBX has found 315 homes. Indeed, that LBX is a major driver of this success, with 83 per cent of its customers being new conquests for the Lexus brand. Lexus is also finding favour with those looking for the flexibility of a plug-in hybrid - 43 per cent of all Lexus sales this year have been PHEVs.

There’s more to come, too. The all-electric RZ model will arrive in Ireland next month, and Lexus has just opened a new dealership, Lexus Waterford, which will bring the brand to the south-east.

Ian Corbett, Head of Lexus Ireland, said: “We are delighted to have had such a successful year for Lexus with strong customer demand across our model portfolio. Our model line has been 100 per cent electrified since 2013 with both hybrid and PHEV powertrains and now with the opening of our sixth retailer, Lexus Waterford and the arrival of the RZ and further new model launches we are looking forward to continuing our momentum into 2025.”
