Two new colours and an enhanced GR Sport spec aim to keep the Toyota Yaris fresh.

The fourth generation of the Toyota Yaris has been around since 2020 and, in order to keep it fresh – and maintain its position as a strong seller in Europe; since the model first appeared in 1999, more than five million of the ten million sold have found homes across the continent – the Japanese company is introducing a few new exterior and interior styling choices for its hybrid supermini.

So what are the main updates?

Some of them pertain to the top-grade GR Sport trim, which imitates the superb GR hot hatch (a model we don’t get here… boooo!). Exclusive to the GR Sport is Storm Grey, a new colour that can be specified in either monotone or bicolour – with a contrast black roof – options. Further, to complement this and the other paint finishes, the 18-inch matt alloy wheels have been redesigned.

Inside the GR Sport, the pre-existing red stitching and gunmetal-grey accents are now accompanied by an embossed ‘GR Sport’ emblem on the head restraints of the seats.

And what if I don’t want a GR Sport Yaris? Any changes to the rest of the range?

There sure are, including another new colour for the 2025 cars, which is Forest Green. Again, this can cover the entire body of the Yaris, or can be optioned up in a bi-tone look with a contrasting black roof.

What about motive power?

As before, there’s the choice of the Hybrid 115 drivetrain, or the slightly more potent Hybrid 130. The former serves as the system used in the Luna, Luna Sport and Platinum trim grades, while the latter is reserved for the upper Premiere Edition and GR Sport specs.

There’s also the same spread of technology as before, with Toyota T-Mate including the latest generation of Toyota Safety Sense driver assistance systems, while the interior is centred on the digital driver’s cluster and an infotainment set-up which is presented on a screen of up to 10.5 inches.

Production of the updated Toyota Yaris will begin February next year, including the GR Sport model, and although prices haven’t been confirmed as yet, we’d expect them to be broadly similar to the existing span of €25,055 for a Hybrid 115 Luna, rising to €35,745 for a Hybrid 130 GR Sport.
