The Brussels motor show is back, having taken a year’s sabbatical in 2024, and Peugeot is taking the opportunity to show off its recently enlarged electric car lineup.
Smallest to the biggest
Indeed, Peugeot is now one of the few car makers which can boast that every new car it sells can be bought in fully-electric form, from its smallest supermini to its biggest van. That’s thanks to the addition of the new electric version of the 408 SUV-coupe and the fact that the 508 saloon and estate — the last non-electric Peugeot — is no longer on sale. That E-408 is also now joined by the long-range version of the E-3008 SUV, which comes with a 98kWh battery and a range on one charge of up to 700km.
“Today, Peugeot is an electric brand; we are ready. Our electric strategy is a fundamental commitment by Peugeot to help preserve our planet for future generations. We're not doing this just because regulations dictate it. It's a deep commitment, both ethical and societal, that I personally feel strongly about” said Peugeot’s CEO, Linda Jackson, ahead of the Brussels show.
Allure, emotion and excellence
With the arrival of the full-width electric range, Peugeot now says that three aspects govern its lineup. There’s Allure (the fact that the cars are “distinguished by their dynamic, elegant and bold design”), Emotion (which Peugeot describes as its cars' ability to “awaken the senses and provide real driving pleasure”), and Excellence (with high performance and high quality being of equal importance).
The full Peugeot electric car lineup now consists of the E-208 ( recently upgraded with a bigger battery and a 400km range); the E-2008 (ditto); the E-308 (which includes one of the rare all-electric estate models on the market); the E-3008 (which gives you fastback styling for the same price, or less, than many rivals more blocky and upright models); the E-5008 (seven seats and electric power — not everyone offers both together as yet); and the slinky new E-408.
Updated E-Partner electric van
Peugeot’s also showing off the updated E-Partner electric van at the Brussels show, which now offers a range of up to 330km, and which thanks to the installation of the batteries under the floor, maintains the load volume of the diesel versions. The load volume can reach 4.4 cubic metres, while the payload of 780kg and towable weight of 750kg are among the best in the segment.
Peugeot also points out that all of its new cars come with built-in Chat GPT AI software to improve their voice control systems and that all of its EV batteries are covered by the Allure Care Programme, which guarantees them for eight years or 160,000km. All of the Peugeot electric lineup also gets a full vehicle warranty which lasts for up to eight years, and which renews for two years and 25,000km each time the car is serviced at an approved Peugeot dealer.
