Jeep Ireland has announced that it will equalise the prices of its petrol-powered and EV Avenger models.
Starting price of €29,995
That means that the Avenger now has a starting price of €29,995 whether you want the basic 1.2-litre turbo petrol manual model, the 1.2 automatic hybrid, or the 51kWh battery-powered model with its 156hp electric motor.
Jeep Ireland says that this so-called ‘common touch’ approach is critical following 2024’s depressed electric car sales and the fact that global motor industry analysts reckon that a crucial part of making electric cars more desirable to the car-buying public is equal pricing across different powerplant choices.
EV price matching happening across the Stellantis Group
Jeep is of course part of the wider Stellantis Group, imported in Ireland by the Gowan Auto group, and across the hall at Peugeot and Citroen, this kind of price-matching between electric and hybrid or petrol models has already begun with the likes of the Peugeot E-3008 and the Citroen e-C3.
For customers still wavering about the prospect of buying an electric car, Jeep Ireland will also offer a ‘peace of mind’ deal. This means that if you buy an electric Avenger and drive it for six months if you decide at that point that electric power is not for you, you can trade it in at no cost for a petrol or hybrid model.
Peace of Mind offer
John Saunders, Managing Director at Jeep Ireland, commented: “We are thrilled to bring this innovative pricing and guarantee to the Irish market. The Jeep Avenger has been designed to deliver exceptional performance and versatility across all powertrains. By introducing common pricing and the Peace of Mind offer, we’re making it easier than ever for Irish drivers to embrace electric vehicles while providing a safety net for those still exploring this exciting transition.”
The basic Longitude version of the Avenger, with all three powertrains, now kicks off at €29,995 while the mid-spec Altitude now costs €32,995. The top-spec Summit model is only available with either hybrid or fully-electric power and costs €35,995. The electric model prices are net of the SEAI grand and VRT rebates. It means that an electric Avenger now costs almost €6,000 less than it did when first launched in Ireland in 2023.
