Small update for the Toyota Yaris Cross, one of Ireland’s best-selling cars.

Toyota is giving the Yaris Cross hybrid (Ireland’s fifth-best-selling car last year, if you were wondering) a series of small updates for the 2025 model year.

Sportier-looking GR Sport model

The biggest change is an upgrade to the range-topping Yaris Cross GR Sport model, which now comes with an exclusive new Storm Grey bi-tone exterior colour option and 18-inch matte alloy wheels. Inside, the Yaris Cross GR Sport also gets embossed GR Sport logos on the front seat headrests.

The more regular Yaris Cross models now also get the option of Forest Green paint, which can optionally be combined with a contrast black finish for the roof.

Choice of hybrid engines

As before, the Yaris Cross comes with a choice of 130hp or 116hp hybrid systems based around a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. Emissions start from as little as 106g/km, while fuel economy is a claimed 4.6 litres per 100km (that’s 61mpg for those of you watching in black and white).

The Yaris Cross, as the name suggests, is based on the same Toyota GA-B platform as the more compact Yaris hatchback. The Japanese giant claims that its construction gives it the “fundamental benefits of low centre of gravity and a highly rigid body.”

Latest safety tech

The Yaris Cross also gets the Toyota T-Mate safety and driver assistance systems, including the most up-to-date Toyota Safety Sense software and sensors, and there’s an update for the Toyota Smart Connect multimedia package and customisable 12.3-inch driver’s instrument display.

We don’t have precise Irish prices and specs for the updated Yaris Cross as yet (although prices currently start from €31,590), but we’ll be getting more details as production of the updated versions begins in May of this year.

It won’t be the only new Toyota this year — we’ve already seen a round of small updates for the Prius plug-in hybrid, and there’s an all-new RAV4 waiting in the wings for a 2026 launch.
