Revised Volvo XC60 gets new styling and updated infotainment.

Volvo’s current XC60 has been around for quite a while now - eight years since it was first launched in 2017 - but it’s going to be with us for a bit yet now that Volvo has given it a freshen-up and some updates to keep it on sale as it develops an all-new all-electric EX60.

Age hasn’t dulled sales

It might be getting on, but the XC60 is still a big seller for Volvo and actually had its best year for sales last year, with total cumulative sales since 2017 reaching the 1.5 million mark.

For 2025, you’ll be able to spot the updated XC60 from the outside thanks to the new cross-cross design of the radiator grille, a design touch shared with the recently updated XC90. There are also two new colours - Forest Lake and Aurora Silver - while, for the first time, the XC60 will be available in Volvo’s gorgeous Mulberry Red. There are new alloy wheel options, too, as well as darkened rear light lenses.

New touchscreen

The most obvious change inside is the addition of a new 11.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, essentially the same one as now used in the XC90. Whereas the previous XC60’s touchscreen was inset into the dashboard, the new one stands proud of the dash and even extends above the top of the dashboard a bit.

The new screen can receive over-the-air updates, and as with other Volvo models, it’s based on Google operating software and has the likes of Google Maps and the Google Play Store built-in. According to Volvo, the pixel density is increased by 21 per cent, resulting in an even crisper display while the adoption of next-generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platform from Qualcomm Technologies, the infotainment system s more than twice as fast as the outgoing system, with ten times faster graphics generation.

Upgraded interior trim

There are also some new interior trim choices, including new inlays and new premium materials such as Quilted Nordico and Navy Herringbone Weave. There are some new storage solutions, too, and an improved wireless phone charger.

As before, the XC60 comes with optional air suspension and laminated side windows for improved refinement. The refreshed XC60 is also equipped with Volvo Cars’ state-of-the-art air purification technology, and there’s an optional Bowers & Wilkins hi-fi system - with a new speaker mesh design - which, according to Volvo “faithfully replicates music just as the artist intended, making it one of the best-sounding car audio systems.”

’Sets the standard’

“With its cutting-edge user experience, modernised Scandinavian design, improved comfort, and even more luxurious interior, the XC60 sets the standard even higher for mid-size SUVs,” says Erik Severinson, chief product and strategy officer at Volvo Cars. “The improvements focus on what we believe matters most to our customers. These upgrades ensure a more enjoyable and exclusive experience, with the car set to get better over time thanks to over-the-air updates.”
