Peugeot has extended the range of its electric E-208 hatchback so that it can now manage a claimed 433km on one charge.
An extra 23km
That's an improvement of 23km and it's with the same 51kWh (net) capacity battery so the improvement comes from better battery management and efficiencies gained in the 156hp electric motor.
The electric E-208 is currently the best-selling EV small hatchback in both its native France and across Europe, and it's possibly the most efficient electric car around, as in the 2024 Ecotest conducted by Germany's ADAC, which named the E-208 the most efficient car on the European market.
Clever sat nav
To help with that efficiency, the updated E-208 also now comes with a trip planning function in the sat nav. When you enter a destination, the system takes into account the distance to be travelled, the battery's charge level at departure, the desired battery charge level upon arrival, and the available charging stations near the destination, considering energy consumption based on various criteria such as speed, traffic, type of road, and even hills.
Charges other devices
Other tweaks include a new function that allows you to automatically limit a battery charge to 80 per cent, and the E-208 now also comes with Vehicle To Load (V2L) charging which allows you, once you've bought an adaptor from the Peugeot accessories catalogue, to charge and run other electrical devices from the car's battery.
There's also an improved autonomous emergency braking system a new colour option - Okenite White - while the hybrid engined models get new badges - Hybrid 110 and Hybrid 145 - which reflect the combined power outputs of their petrol engines and electric motors - that's apparently to fall in line with the incoming new Euro7 emissions regulations.
