Alfa Romeo centenary celebrations

Alfa Romeo celebrates 100 years at Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Alfa Romeo is the featured marque at this weekend's Goodwood Festival of Speed as the company celebrates 100 years of motor manufacturing. New and historic cars from the brand's collection will be on show.

Today (July 1), at the Goodwood Moving Motor Show, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta will be on display for the first time in public in the UK. The Giulietta replaces the Alfa Romeo 147 in the C-segment when it goes on sale in Ireland later this month.

Amongst the 50 historic Alfas on show, four will be involved in the Goodwood Hillclimb, including the 8C 2900 B Speciale Tipo Le Mans from 1938 and the Gran Premio Tipo 159 "Alfetta" from 1951. Twelve other historic Alfa Romeo models will be displayed at the Cartier "Style et Luxe" concours d'elegance and the Cathedral Paddock.

The brand's supercar, the 8C Spider, will be on view in the Supercar Paddock and will also drive up the Goodwood Hill to allow visitors to hear its V8 engine.

To mark Alfa Romeo's milestone, a centenary sculpture is located on the front lawn of Goodwood House. The sculpture displays the 1925 World Championship winning Alfa P2 Grand Prix racer and also the Alfa 8C Competizione. It was designed by artist and designer, Gerry Judah.
