Chevrolet UK to take over Irish distribution

Irish sales operations to get full backing from Chevrolet UK.

Chevrolet UK today (March 1) announced that it is to take direct responsibility for selling Chevrolet cars and associated parts in Ireland. The all-American manufacturer, which has offered European specific cars since its buyout of Daewoo, has been effectively unrepresented in Ireland since the recession with the Irish importer focusing on its other brands, including Nissan.

"While the Irish market isn't one of the biggest in Europe, it represents a real opportunity for a brand like Chevrolet to grow and develop yet further," said Mark Terry, Managing Director for Chevrolet UK and Ireland. "I'm confident we can become a major player in Ireland, significantly adding to our future sales and parts volumes, and moreover delivering exactly the type of cars that the Irish market wants and needs."

Chevrolet has already presented its plans to a number of Irish dealers and dealer groups, many of whom held Chevrolet franchises with the previous importer, and as Mr Terry says; "over two-thirds of the previous Chevrolet network in Ireland signed up to partner our business"

Focus will be placed on raising the awareness of the brand in Ireland, with full marketing and PR support provided by Chevrolet UK. Initially the brand will offer four models on the Irish market - the Spark, the New Aveo, the Cruze (both four- and five-door) and the Captiva. New models, including the Cruze Station Wagon that debuts at this month's Geneva Motor Show, will join the line-up later.
