Audi Ireland has released prices and specification for its new MINI and Citroen DS3 rival, the A1. Prices will start from €18,900 pitching it between MINI's First and One models. The A1 represents Audi's first competitor in the compact car segment.
The entry level 1.2TFSI model comes with alloy wheels, start-stop, remote central locking, electric front windows and ESP as standard. Buyers of the 1.4TFSI or 1.6TDI versions get 16-inch alloy wheels and air conditioning as standard.
The Sport trim adds bigger alloy wheels, sports suspension, sports seats, a leather covered steering wheel and a Driver's Information System. S line versions feature an exterior styling package including 17-inch alloy wheels, S line sports suspension, Xenon lights and a mix of leather and cloth upholstery.
Three engines will be available from launch. The 1.2TFSI and 1.4TFSI produce 85- and 125hp respectively; the latter is available with a six-speed manual or optional seven-speed S-tronic
transmission. The 1.6TDI diesel engine offers 105bhp and 250Nm of torque while returning fuel economy of just 3.3 litres/100km. All versions of the A1 produce less than 125g/km of CO2 resulting in annual road tax of €104.
The A1 can be ordered from this month and will first reach customers in October. All above prices are subject to delivery and related charges.
