Toyota has released a single teaser image of an all-new saloon that it will unveil at next week's New York Auto Show. Other than the 'exciting new design features an elegant yet athletic look' little else is known about the car as Toyota has neglected to tell us.
Judging by the Toyota US line-up a next generation Avalon saloon (or sedan for our American readers) would appear to be the likely outcome for 'all-new US-designed sedan' and it would represent a huge design shift forward for a car that has been labelled the Japanese Buick, which we assume is not a term of endearment.
The current Avalon is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine and there is no reason to suggest that the car this image previews will feature anything but the same. Having said that Toyota could surprise us and show a further reworking of its Hybrid Synergy Drive most likely with a petrol engine to appeal to American buyers.
