Images of Fisker's Project Nina have been leaked on the internet ahead of its official debut at this week's New York Auto Show. The photographs, first shown on Czech website Autoforum.cz, not only give us our first look at the new saloon that will slot into the Fisker line-up below the Karma, but also reveal a new name. With Project Nina being just a codename the plug-in hybrid will now be known as the Fisker Atlantic.
New name aside the technology that will be displayed in New York will be remarkably similar to that already seen in the Karma saloon with the most obvious change being the replacement of the old General Motors sourced 2.0-litre engine with that of a BMW unit that will keep the Atlantic's batteries topped up while driving.
The Atlantic is key to Fisker's push towards the mainstream and will be built at the former GM plant in Willmington Delaware. Prices are expected to be half of that of the Karma and right-hand drive models are expected to go into production by the end of 2013. There is no news about a sales outlet in Ireland as yet.
More details on the Atlantic will be announced when the car is officially unveiled at the New York Auto Show on Wednesday.
