Upgrades all-round for Porsche 911 Carrera S range

More power and bespoke styling for Porsche 911 Carrera S.

Porsche has announced a power upgrade kit for the new 911 Carrera S as part of the 'Porsche Exclusive' range. The Powerkit boosts power by seven per cent, raises the top speed, lowers the 0-100km/h time yet leaves fuel economy untouched. The Porsche Exclusive range also includes a host of styling upgrades that make you wonder whether it is worth holding out for the GT3 model.

Exterior
As part of the Porsche Exclusive range customers can choose from a raft of aerodynamically tuned exterior components with which to style their cars. The central part is the front apron that extends low and has large air intakes from the Sport Design package. This package also includes a fixed rear spoiler in legendary "ducktail" form. The top upgrade is the Aerokit Cup with an additional fixed rear wing over the rear spoiler and a special front spoiler lip with additional air intakes.

Interior
Inside, Porsche Exclusive also offers numerous upgrades such as interior packages with decorative trim ranging from brushed aluminium to carbon.

Mechanicals
Through a range of upgrades that we are not going to get into the Powerkit raises the power output of the 3.8-litre boxer engine from 400- to 430hp, the result being a 0-100km/h time of 4.0 seconds for the Carrera S Coupé with PDK in Sport Plus mode. The kit also increases the top speed from 300- to 305km/h with PDK and to 310km/h when equipped with the seven-speed manual gearbox.

That kind of performance puts it on a par with the 997 GT3 model and while the new generation GT3 will likely be faster still it is likely to be PDK-only so the Powerkit may be the answer to those who prefer to shift gears the old fashioned way.

Anything else?
As part of the Powerkit cars will also be fitted with a Porsche Exclusive bespoke exhaust system. The sports exhaust features two sets of twin tailpipes which, at the press of a button, are de-throttled, the two exhaust lines are merged and they generate a 'powerful' engine sound.
