Fiat 500 Turbo revealed for American market

New 135hp Fiat 500 Turbo launched in the USA.

Fiat has introduced the 500 Turbo at the Concorso Italiano - one of the most popular meetings of Italian cars in North America. The car features both exterior and interior changes, as well as powertrain and performance upgrades.

Exterior
New aerodynamically functional front, rear and side skirts have been fitted to the 500 Turbo; as have twin rear exhausts and a small roof spoiler. To accommodate the bigger engine, the front fascia has been extended by almost three inches, and the front bumper now features two large air vents for the car's intercoolers. Round the back, the rear lights are painted Gloss Black above the new diffuser. The model is fitted with specially designed 16-inch alloy wheels, which feature distinctive black detailing. An all-new Verde Azzurro - green and blue - paint finish has also been created for the Turbo.

Interior
The 500's cabin has been altered for the Turbo to give a sportier feel. Sport designed seats, a black leather gear stick and steering wheel all have contrasting silver stitching. Red and black heated leather seats are also available at extra cost. The car features a 'Beats by Dr. Dre' audio system, which includes six speakers, subwoofer and a 368-watt amplifier.

Mechanicals
The biggest new feature for this model is of course, the engine. The 1.4-litre MultiAir unit is fed with a turbocharger, twin intercoolers and features a sports exhaust system; delivering 135hp and 203Nm of torque. On the handling front, the car is fitted with sports suspension; and high-performance brakes are installed to improve stopping power.

Anything else?
The 500 Turbo goes on sale later this year in the USA.
