Volvo has revealed the starting prices for the new R-Design and Cross Country versions of its extended V40 line-up. Prices start from €29,495 and €28,645 respectively, and both models are expected to hit the roads in Ireland in January.
Exterior
As already seen, both offer very different styling features to the standard car. The R-Design sports a new front bumper and rear diffuser, silver door mirrors and five-spoke 17-inch 'Ixion' alloy wheels. The R-Design is also available in an exclusive colour dubbed 'Rebel Blue'.
The Cross Country, despite being marketed as a crossover model, isn't as jacked up as you would expect over standard guise. It does feature new black bumpers front and rear as well as chrome strips down the side.
Interior
Branded upholstery, sports floor mats, steering wheel and pedals and a blue-coloured TFT crystal display screen are all standard-fit items on the R-Design V40.
The V40 Cross Country comes electric windows, climate control and a leather steering wheel as standard. Buyers can upgrade the interior in the SE and Lux models.
Mechanicals
The R-Design look will be available in conjunction with the T3 petrol engine (150hp) and both D2 and D3 diesels (115- and 150hp respectively), the latter with a manual or automatic gearbox. The manual diesels are in Band A, while the others are in Band B.
Volvo offers more options for Cross Country buyers. Petrol power is taken care of by the T4 engine producing 180hp, available with a manual or dual-clutch automatic transmission. Diesel options include D2, D3 and D4 units in manual and automatic guises, ranging in power from 115- to 177hp. Other than the automatic petrol version, all variants attract either Band A or B tax.
Anything else?
Prices for the V40 R-Design range from €29,495 for the V40 D2 manual to €33,995 for the V40 D3 with a Geartronic automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the extensive V40 Cross Country line-up rises as high as €37,495 for a D3 SE Lux model with the Geartronic gearbox.
