The updated Ford B-MAX has hit Ireland's shores, as has the exciting new Focus ST. Both new models come in two trim levels and feature Ford's latest in-car technology - SYNC.
Exterior
The new B-MAX comes to Ireland with conventional front doors and sliding back doors; giving a huge 1.5-metre long opening with which to access the back seats. Top-grade Titanium models come with 15-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps, LED daytime lights and chrome detailing.
The Focus ST comes in ST and ST2 guises, with base models getting the full ST body kit and 18-inch alloy wheels as standard.
Interior
Entry-level B-MAX models come with air conditioning, flat-folding rear and passenger seats and a leather-trimmed steering wheel, with a heated windscreen and a child observation mirror coming only on Titanium models. Standard trim on the Focus ST comes in the form of Ford Power keyless start and Recaro sports seats. Both cars also come with Ford's SYNC system.
SYNC is Ford's 'advanced voice control, device integration and connectivity interface,' according to the company. Whilst the Bluetooth and USB connectivity aren't revolutionary, the system will transfer contact information from connected devices, read text messages aloud and control music - all via voice-activation. SYNC also includes the new European Emergency Assistance feature, helping occupants call for help in the event of an accident.
Mechanicals
The B-MAX comes with Ford's new 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol unit, as well as a host of petrol and diesel motors. Deflation Detection, ESP and Torque Vectoring Control all come as standard.
The ST is powered by a direct-injection, turbocharged 2.0-litre EcoBoost unit developing 247hp, while still returning a claimed 39.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 169g/km - a 20 per cent improvement on the old model.
Anything else?
Both cars are available across the Ford Ireland dealership network now, with prices for the B-MAX starting at €19,170, and €35,170 for the ST.
