Jaguar reveals speedboat concept

Very stylish publicity stunt for new Jaguar estate car.

Jaguar has unveiled a Concept Speedboat that the company will use to mark the driving debut of the XF Sportbrake.

Designed in collaboration with with Seventy Seven Design and Ivan Erdevicki Naval Architecture & Yacht Design Inc, the Concept Speedboat has a gel-coated fibreglass hull with natural teak decking on top. The latter is split by a D-Type inspired carbon-fibre fin. Inside you'll find a 2+1 cabin finished in red, and underneath is a polished aluminium propeller matching an aluminium pop-up mooring post.

Jaguar's Director of Design, Ian Callum says, "I hope our design inspires people to think about our products in a much broader sense. The Concept Speedboat looks powerful. It follows, in so many ways, the idea of a traditional speedboat but with the sleek and fast characteristics that you would expect from a Jaguar Car."

Marking the launch of the XF Sportbrake, the new derivative matches the saloon version for aerodynamics, stiffness and handling, but with much more practicality according to Jaguar. The 2.2-litre and the 3.0-litre V6 diesel engines (the latter of which comes in two states of tune) are mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
