Honda (or Acura for our American readers) has pulled a fast one at the Detroit Auto Show. Having intimated that this event would be the location for the production model's proud unveiling it has instead wheeled out another concept. Oh but this time we get to see an interior...
Exterior
Honda states that the Detroit concept 'stays remarkably true to the original concept styling' with a low, wide stance that emphasises the dynamic and alluring proportions. This is of course marketing-speak for the exterior is unchanged from the last time we saw it.
Interior
The big news, and the whole (if somewhat disappointing) reason the concept is in Detroit is to, for the first time, show off the interior. Honda states that the concept 'offers a glimpse at one potential direction for the next-generation NSX's interior design', but with low slung seats, a driver-focused dashboard and a luxurious yet functional appointment it looks, almost, production ready. We particularly like the over-sized grab handle on the door and hope that this points to the NSX having the oomph to go with the looks.
Mechanicals
On the oomph front, the NSX will be powered by a mid-mounted, direct-injected V6 engine mated to Honda's Sport Hybrid SH-AWD (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive) system, you know - when it actually makes production.
Anything else?
After its stint in Detroit the NSX Concept will be packed up and shipped to the Geneva Motor Show where it will swap Acura badges for Honda ones, but we don't know as yet when it'll turn into a production model.
