Mitsubishi will show its latest hybrid and electric concept vehicles at the Geneva Motor Show next month. It is described as exploring 'the full electro-mobility engineering palette', which means pure electric (EV), hybrid electric (HEV) and plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) drive systems. Two design studies will be shown alongside the new Outlander PHEV on 5th March.
The Concept GR-HEV is a sport utility hybrid truck and Mitsubishi's way of showing that electric vehicles don't have to be small city cars. The goal was to combine internal combustion and electric drive in a vehicle larger than the Outlander. This is apparently the first time HEV technology has been applied to a one-tonne pickup and combines diesel power with electric drive; target CO2 emissions are below 149g/km.
Meanwhile, the Concept CA-MiEV is a pure electric vehicle designed for use beyond the urban environment. Developed to showcase the next generation EV systems and high-density batteries, the lightweight and aerodynamic concept claims a 300-kilometre range. Other innovations include magnetic resonance wireless charging and smartphone activated functions.
