Volvo's greener automatics

Efficiency gains for automatic Volvos reduce VRT, tax and fuel costs.

Volvo has made a significant breakthrough with its automatic range, which sees four of the company's larger models producing less than 130g/km of CO2.  On sale now, new S80, V70, S60 and V60 D3 and D4 models all sport more efficient powertrains, resulting in a reduction of €120 in annual road tax costs.

Models that are highlighted include the S60 D3/D4 Geartronic that now boasts a 58.9mpg fuel economy figure, compared with 52.3mpg on the previous model.  The XC60 D4 FWD Geartronic also benefits, dropping the road tax bill from €750 per annum to just €570.  Economy has improved here too, returning 47.1- as opposed to 41.5mpg.

As well as the annual savings, customers will also enjoy a lower list price for each model, due to the reduced VRT.  Thanks to the new developments, customers can enjoy savings ranging from €750 to €1,750 depending on the model.

The development towards greener automatics is part of Volvo's plan to ensure that drivers of both automatic and manual cars receive the same level of efficiency across its model range.
