More details emerge for first Auris estate model

Toyota reveals more details ahead of Auris Touring Sports' world debut.

Toyota has released details of the Auris Touring Sports, the first time an estate model has been offered in the Auris range. The hatchback's hybrid drive is available and the load space is described as 'class leading'.

Exterior
Although built on the same wheelbase as the hatchback the Auris Touring Sports is 285mm longer, extending the rear overhang to increase load space. Roof rails are fitted and a 'Skyview' panoramic roof is offered on some variants. The tailgate extends further into the rear bumper to give a 100mm lower loading height than the hatchback.

Interior
With the back seat in place there are 530 litres of luggage space measuring around 1.1 metres long and 1.45 metres wide. A 'one-touch' folding mechanism for the rear seats extends the load area to just over two metres and total capacity (when loaded to the roof) to 1,658 litres. Practical touches include a dual-level load space floor, luggage net, shopping hooks and a 12-volt power outlet.

Mechanicals
Engine and drivetrain options will mirror those available in the Auris hatchback; that means 1.33-, 1.6- and 1.8-litre petrol engines and a 1.4-litre diesel. The 1.8 motor comes with Hybrid Synergy Drive that boasts CO2 emissions of 89g/km with claimed performance figures of 0-100km/h in 10.9 seconds and a 180km/h top speed.

Anything else?
Toyota's Auris Touring Sports will be on display at the Geneva Motor Show. Sales are expected to start in the summer with prices still to be confirmed.
