City concept coming to Geneva

Swiss creator, Rinspeed, unveils microMAX concept.

Swiss car manufacturer Rinspeed is planning to rock up to the Geneva Motor Show with this - the microMax. We all know that when the word 'Rinspeed' is uttered, we expect to see an outrageous vehicle filled with outside-the-box thinking. Happily, the microMax is no different as it goes on its quest to revolutionise urban traffic.

Exterior
The shape of the microMax is, in essence, a modern-looking box-on-wheels. The only differentiations between the front and the back are the light clusters. Having said this, the idea behind the microMax is to have the most amount of space inside a relatively small vehicle. As such, the microMax shorter than today's MINI, but offers a lot more room inside thanks to its 2.2-metre height.

Interior
Stepping into the microMax through the twin sliding doors, you find that the traditional idea of a car interior has been thrown away. In place of normal seats, you find four individual upright chairs. Aside from the driver, the other three seats face each other, giving everyone inside ample space, plus leaving room for a buggy or a wheelchair. As well as this, Rinspeed says that a coffee-maker, a fridge and unlimited connectivity is fitted to each microMax as standard.

Mechanicals
As the Rinspeed microMax has its plans set on changing the face of urban transport, electric power is the only way to go. No word has been given as to specifics, but we expect more to be revealed at in Geneva.

Anything else?
Rinspeed's plan to alter city traffic comes in conjunction with existing ride-share centres that currently work either online on via a Smartphone. The idea behind them is that commuters travelling alone would communicate and ride-share with others to help ease congestion, save money and reduce CO2 emissions in cities.
