Citroen has now released official images of its upcoming C4 Picasso. A compact exterior, large interior and clever tech under the bonnet make up Citroen's latest MPV.
Exterior
The designers of the C4 Picasso have been brave by making it look like nothing else on the road. Whilst certainly looking futuristic, we feel that people are either going to love it or hate it.
A new headlight design coupled with a slim grille gives the front of the car a very modern and minimalist look, while the rear-end styling could have been lifted from one of today's Volkswagens. Due to its uniquely designed C-pillars, the new model has a very odd profile; almost as if it were created by adding extra pieces onto a regular family hatchback. Having said that, the Picasso does have a small footprint on the road, as well as short overhangs, thanks to its 'EMP2' platform.
Interior
Spaciousness is the word that comes to mind in the C4 Picasso's cabin. Not only does it have a panoramic windscreen and a full length glass roof, but Citroen also claims that it has a class-leading interior in terms of overall space, as well as a 537-litre luggage area. Other design features include two-tone seating and a newly designed dashboard.
The uncluttered fascia includes a seven-inch touchscreen and a large 12-inch HD monitor. The touchpad takes care of all interior functions, while the larger screen displays essential information regarding satnav and driver aids. The Picasso's infotainment system comes with '360 Vision' and Park Assist to make threading through towns and car parks a bit easier.
Mechanicals
Reduced weight, improved aerodynamics and brand new engines help the C4 Picasso achieve two efficiency benchmarks in its segment. Not only does fuel economy start from 74mpg, but it is also the first compact MPV to produce less than 100g/km of CO2 according to Citroen. Both e-HDi 90 and 115 engines will be available from launch, which can both be had with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox.
Citroen e-Touch, active front seatbelts and a blind spot monitoring system are just some of the safety features fitted to the C4 Picasso as standard.

Citroen's new C4 Picasso is set to go on sale in Europe in June. Irish pricing has yet to be released.
