McLaren celebrates 50 years

McLaren joins anniversary merry-go-round with limited edition 12C models.

This year McLaren is celebrating its 50th anniversary by launching a limited run of 12C models. The new 50 12C is restricted to 100 examples across the globe - split equally between coupé and open-topped Spider versions.

Exterior
Up front the 50 12C sports a restyled bumper from the specialists at McLaren Special Operations (MSO). Inspired by the limited-run HS Edition models, the new bumper provides increases levels of downforce over the standard-fit item. The lower section of the rear bumper has also been constructed in carbon fibre, while an exclusive F1-inspired logo replaces the existing badge.

The three colour options are Carbon Black, Supernova Silver and McLaren Orange; and the bespoke McLaren 50 'Ultra Lightweight' wheels are finished in Satin Black.

Interior
Inside, the seats have been subjected to a full leather upgrade; while branding appears on the kick plates and floor mats. A limited edition plate has also been fitted on the driver's side to mark out the special model.

Mechanicals
McLaren hasn't added any extra power to the 50 12C, but the usually optional carbon ceramic brake upgrade comes as standard. It includes 394 x 36mm discs at the front and 380 x 34mm items at the rear.

Anything else?
Included in the price of the car is a black and white car cover, a bespoke key in a carbon presentation box and a print by McLaren Automotive Design Director, Frank Stephenson.
