Citroen's WTCC racer revealed

Citroen and Sébastien Loeb will tackle the 2014 WTCC.

Citroen has revealed the WTCC C-Elysee that Sébastien Loeb will use to compete in the competition next year. The racer will be one of the first models to be built under the new 2014 regulations, which see upgrades over the outgoing cars.

Exterior
Citroen's entrant into the 2014 WTCC season is with a heavily modified C-Elysee. As well as its racing-spec body kit, massively flared wheel arches and enormous rear wing, the rendering above also shows the grey, silver and red racing colours that Citroen could use throughout next year's competition. We can also see that Total will continue to sponsor the Citroen racing team.

Interior
Inside there is very little. The single bucket racing seat is equipped with a full race harness and the dashboard has been stripped and refitted with racing switchgear. Digital dials replace the standard items and of course there's a racing steering wheel. The full FIA-spec roll cage is also present, as is a fire extinguisher.

Mechanicals
Under the bonnet is the same 1.6-litre engine found in the DS3 WRC car. The 380hp unit sends all of its power through the front wheels, meaning that the modifications and safety systems will have to work overtime to keep all the power in line.

Anything else?
The WTCC C-Elysee is Citroen's first ever track car, so it will be interesting to see how the company's rallying success will play out on the circuit next year. More details concerning the 2014 specification will be revealed in the coming months.
